The international marketplace is a crucial area of expansion for packaging and processing machinery manufacturers.

“Export markets represent a world of opportunity for PMMI members,” said Jorge Izquierdo, vice president of market development, PMMI. “And PMMI helped members take advantage of opportunities to find growth abroad at the Interpack trade show, connecting them with agents from around the world in Dusseldorf.”

PMMI’s member-agent matchmaking program connected members with agents on site at interpack 2011 (May 12-18, 2011; Dusseldorf, Germany), to help PMMI membership grow their businesses abroad. The pre-arranged meetings were set based on suppliers’ markets of interest and machinery type, and agents’ areas of need, and ensured members were using the time they spent away from their booths to maximum effect.

“PMMI’s excellent member-agent matchmaking service introduced us to several agents from Brazil, India and Mexico,” said Marc Lapierre, International Sales Manager, NJM/CLI Packaging system Int’l. “The agents we met really seemed to understand our market and our product, and some of them have real potential as future partners as we increase our global reach.”

PMMI’s member-agent matchmaking services are available to members at a number of international events, including the upcoming EXPO PACK Mexico show (June 21-24; Mexico City, Mexico). The program is also available to members at the PACK EXPO trade shows.
