Prime Advantage Delivers Savings

February 22nd, 2011 · No Comments · Connections

In 2009, PMMI partnered with Prime Advantage, a Most Valuable Partner (MVP), to help our members save on the supplies they need to run their businesses. Less than 2 years later, the 44 members who have joined the program are seeing significant materials savings.

“Prime Advantage puts PMMI members in position to take part in leveraged programs based on group volume  that can help drive costs down,” said Tom Egan, vice president of industry services.

Prime Advantage, a buying consortium for small and mid-sized manufacturing firms, aggregates the volume of its 700 company membership and leverages that volume to negotiate rebate or discount programs with a collection of 125 endorsed suppliers.  For the last 13 years, Prime Advantage has been delivering deep savings to manufacturing firms, and PMMI’s relationship with them has been providing excellent results for some of our members over the past year.

PMMI members participate in Prime Advantage programs in 2 ways: As Associate Members to Prime Advantage, companies will have access to all of Prime Advantage’s 125 endorsed suppliers and their savings programs; however, Prime Advantage’s Affiliate Membership, free to all PMMI Members, offers access to only the Prime Advantage Grainger program.

To date, the eleven PMMI companies who have joined the Prime Advantage Associate Member program have realized rebates in excess of $1.2 million in diverse categories such as:

  • Steel and metal
  • Fasteners and class c parts
  • Electrical products
  • Bearings and Power Transmissions
  • General MRO items
  • Office Supplies

“The Associate Member program, with its 100+ suppliers, has really proven a great value to our member companies,” Egan added. “And, although the Associate Members are really taking the most from this partnership, Affiliate Membership, which is free to PMMI members, has also helped our members cut costs.”

The 33 PMMI companies who have signed up for the free Affiliate Membership averaged over 33 percent in savings from the Grainger program in 2010.

“PMMI is constantly looking for ways to help our members cut costs and increase profits,” Egan noted. “Our partnership with Prime Advantage reduces the financial burden of running a business for our members.”
